Sea Squirts - Kitsilano Beach

$375.00

Location: Kitsilano Beach
Ages: 6-7

At Sea Squirts camp, we empower girl*-identifying youth to be curious about the exciting world beneath the waves. In this girls-only* day camp, your child will dive into the exciting world of marine biology while spending the week at the beach.

We will learn about all the cool critters in the Salish Sea, including orcas, salmon and otters! Campers will continue their journey as scientists-in-training while conducting group research projects and collecting data from the intertidal zone. A woman-identifying or nonbinary scientist will speak at each camp to share exciting stories from real-life marine biologists and inspire youth about the different ways we can help protect the ocean. At Sea Squirts, we aim to cultivate a safe and warm space for girls* to learn to love STEAM.

Fun activities include:

🦀Learning about intertidal animals like crabs, starfish and barnacles
🌊 Immersive and thought-provoking ocean-themed games
🔬Exploring biodiversity using engaging scientific sampling techniques

Your child will leave camp with the confidence to take action against the greatest challenges to our oceans!

*These inclusive camps are open to youth identifying as girls, trans, genderqueer, gender non-binary, Two-Spirit, and gender questioning. We are working to close the gender gap in science-related fields.

Please Note:

  • Lunch is not included; please ensure your kids come with enough food, water and clothing suited to be outdoors all day.

  • There is NO swimming during this camp.

  • In the event of an air quality advisory, programming may be adjusted.
